The Swan Valley Stampeders, along with the Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation, will be holding our second Hockey is for Everyone game night on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at the Swan River Centennial Arena.
The Stampeders will be playing their rivals from Treaty 5 Territory, the Blizzard. Opening ceremonies are expected to get underway at 6:58 p.m. with puck drop being delayed until after completion. The night will feature an honorary drum song, peace offerings, the presentation of jerseys, a ceremonial puck drop and the national anthem, which will be sung in Cree. The first intermission will feature a special dance performance while the second intermission will include games for all ages. Hockey is for Everyone is a night to provide awareness and a positive environment for players, families and fans of every race, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, or ability. It is crucial that we support everyone who wants to play or is already playing the sport they love, no matter their background. The Stampeders will be wearing a special game night jersey that was designed by members of the Swan Valley Stampeders Marketing Department and members of the Wuski Sipihk First Nation. The colours and design represent WSFN and inclusion for all. The Stampeders will only be wearing these jerseys one night this year and an online auction will take place following the game. Please plan to attend the evening and help us celebrate everyone who loves the game of hockey, together as one. Single game day tickets can be purchased at Home Hardware or Riddell’s Plumbing & Heating (cash only) or at the door. Plan to purchase in advance as 300 tickets have already been sold for the event. Youth 12 and under are free courtesy of the Swan River Kinsmen.
