Stampeders Find A Way To Win Saturday Night in Winnipeg

The Swan Valley Stampeders found a way to enter the win column Saturday night, defeating the Winnipeg Blues 2-1 in a thrilling overtime win.

The Stampeders offence was led be a defenceman, as Darren Hunt collected his second and third goals of the year while Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou collected the team’s first win in net, turning aside 34/35 shots he faced.

The Stampeders had a slow opening first period and found themselves trailing 1-0 on a goal that came off the stick of Evan Gradt at 8:27.

Swan pushed back and eventually solved Connor Graham as Hunt collected his first of the game at the 14:34 mark of the second period.

The third period was full of penalties but both goaltenders shut the door and forced overtime.

Tonight’s hero came way of Hartney, MB, as Darren Hunt walked in off the blue-line and snapped home a one-timer at 2:58 of the overtime period, collecting his second of the night on the power play.
